The recent urbanisation of the area has helped to optimise road connections, the high-power electricity grid, the water supply and numerous other cutting-edge accessory services, suitable to meet the needs of the most demanding innovative companies.
The PSE is located on the territory of the municipality of Balerna in the Mendrisiotto district, in the area known as Pian Faloppia. Its sunny border location, in the flat area along Via Passeggiata, between Chiasso and Novazzano, guarantees access to qualified labour and collaboration with research centres and the universities of the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) and the Scuola professionale della Svizzera italiana (SUPSI) in a human-scale context.
The area offers a wide range of leisure activities in a hilly landscape with a temperate climate. The cultural, gastronomic and naturalistic offer is also well diversified and contributes to an excellent quality of life. The Swiss framework conditions, the economic and political stability of the country, the high degree of innovation, the streamlined regulatory framework and the facilitated access to the European market are just a few examples of the advantages of the institutional and political environment in which the pole is located.
